1657 In 1657, St. Vincent writes to Fr. William Delville “The two years of trial are not to see if they have the required dispositions since it was necessary to have done thiis beforehand but are rather to strengthen them in these dispositions so that upon this base, the building of the virtues of a good missionary can take place.... Only God has the right to call one to evangelical functions ... because the (vocation) that does not come from God is nothing more than a shadow of a true vocation, even though it is covered in beautiful pretexts and good habits.”
