1654 Vincent writes to Firmin Get, the superior in Marseilles, who has asked for a loan of 1,200 livres to pay for some of the work that he is doing but has not communicated this fact to Vincent: “If you were a Gascon or a Norman, I would not find it strange. To think, however, that a straightforward man from Picardy, whom I consider one of the most sincere men in the Company, would have hidden that from me — how can I not be surprised at that, and just as surprised at the means used to meet those demands.”

1656 In the following citation we see the authority of Vincent over the Visitation monasteries in Paris: “I, Vincent de Paul, superior general of the Congregation of the Mission and spiritual father of the religious of the Visitation of Holy Mary in Paris write to you our dear Sister F. Le Roy, the first religious women of the monastery of said city. You have been chosen and appointed to go to your house in Le Mans, accompanied by Sister M. Trouillet. You shall remain there until obedience tells you something differently. We ask you to lower your veil when you travel through the different cities to arrive at your destination.”

1919 The Church Sacre-Coeur (Sacred Heart) in Montmartre is inaugurated in the presence of the legate of Benedict XIV. The Vincentian choir from Saint-Lazare sang the liturgy and according to the press, animated all who were present. As the main altar and the side altars were blessed , Bishop Raynaud, the Apostolic Vicar of Tche-kiang, accompanied by the visitors of Poland and Barcelona, consecrated the altar dedicated to Saint Vincent de Paul.

1926 Preparation begin for the beatification of 189 martyrs of the French Revolutio. The Vincentian priests Frcois and Gruyer were among this group of beatified.

1941 Pius XII establishes the Apostolic Vicariate of Surabaja (Java) where the Durch confreres had worked from 1923.
