Fr.
Jacques Chirac Chiluba is the superior and rector of the Vincentian
scholasticat in Harare. He has been rector there for seven
years. In that time he has acquired the reputation of being
a demanding and strict superior and rector. The reputation
of the institution is very good. But Fr. Chiluba also has
a tendency to abuse his power and authority. And in many
ways, you can never predict how he will behave.
*****Your
task is to come up with a 20 minute drama that illustrates
a realistic and typical situation of an abuse of authority
and power and the lack of accountability. A
second part of this play is to dramatize up a process
(realistic) through which Fr. Chiluba could be confronted in
a constructive manner.*****

Fr.
Nasser Mbeki is the director of the students for the Vincentian
scholasticate in Ndjamena. He is a young confrere just
put into vocation work for the first time. Fr. Nasser like
most of the formators in COVIAM has never had any formal training. His
province really has no idea of what that might be for a person
in formation. The province assigned him to this work because
the other formation director was going to the U.S. and there
was a vacancy Fr. Nasser is in over his head. He feels
very angry about this assignment and is afraid he will suffer
a humiliation. The students
now have become a threat and victims of his confusion.
*****Your
task is to come up with a 20 minute drama that illustates a
realistic and typical situation of a confrere who lacks the
internal strength and self-confidence needed to engage students
in a straightforward and transparent manner. A second
part of this drama is to come up with a realistic of how Fr.
Nasser could be helped through this crisis in his life.
